Respiration
1) Transformation phenomenon, cycle, as opposed to photosynthesis in terrestrial plants. Plants breathe and release the accumulated energy in the cell molecules. During respiration, carbon dioxide and water are released. Plants generally spend about half of the energy they produce by photosynthesis on respiration. The fact that a plant left in a dark place dies in a short time is related to the fact that it consumes the nutrient by breathing. Respiration is also the consumption of biomass.
2) Gas exchange between plants and the air in which they absorb oxygen and emit carbon dioxide.
