Dead Cover (Litter, plant litter)

 Dead cover (Litter, plant litter)

The organic layer formed by the accumulation of vegetable residues such as leaves, branches, bark and fruit fallen from the trees in the forest on the soil. At the top of this layer are the fallen vegetable residues of the last year. This part is called the leaf layer. Under this layer, there may be a layer that has been poured in previous years, has begun to crumble and decay. In this layer, called the decay layer, the origin of the vegetable residue can be recognized. The lowest layer of the dead cover is defined as humus. The part of the vegetative residues that are completely decomposed and have black color and colludial dimensions, and it is not clear which vegetable residue is formed by decomposition, is called humus.
