Biotope (habitat)

A homogeneous living space of a living society that can be separated from its environment by very sharp boundaries.  Bios means life, life tope yer (space) and covers the relations between the living and inanimate environment in the space and the unique growing conditions of the living society in this environment. It is the last subdivision of the habitat. Biotope is often used as a synonym for habitat. However, in some countries, biotope and habitat are considered different and a certain species or population is included in the habitat scope, while biotope covers the entire biological population.
