What Does it Mean Biotic Factors?

Biotic factors

Biotic factors mean
1) Plants, animals, microorganisms and humans that make up the living environment.

2) Characteristics that are effective in the life factors of organisms. Deforestation, overgrazing of livestock, the arrival of plants with regressive succession, the competition between the plants themselves are within the scope of biotic factors.

Biotic factors refer to the living components of an ecosystem that affect and interact with one another and with their environment. These factors include all living organisms and their roles, behaviors, and relationships within an ecosystem.

Examples of Biotic Factors:

  1. Plants – As producers, they provide food and oxygen through photosynthesis.
  2. Animals – As consumers, they depend on plants or other animals for food.
  3. Microorganisms – Such as bacteria and fungi, which decompose organic material and recycle nutrients.
  4. Interactions – Relationships like predation, competition, mutualism, and parasitism.

For example:

  • A tree providing shelter to birds is a biotic factor.
  • A wolf hunting a deer involves two biotic factors interacting.

These factors shape ecosystems by influencing population sizes, biodiversity, and the flow of energy and nutrients.
